How hand made pottery is created:

• The clay is dug by hand, crushed and screened;
• Once mixed with water, the clay is then thrown onto a traditional kick wheel and worked into its desired shape;
• Once it has taken shape, the piece is dried in open air and then delicately painted;
• After the intricate design work is completed, the piece is again allowed to dry;
• Once dry, the piece is hand polished using a combination of rounded stones and plastic artifacts;
• Prior to firing, the design is engraved providing the desired relief and contract; and finally
• The piece is fired in a traditional wood kiln located in the artisan's home.
