Fine Art Prints by Carlos Galli Taylor
Carlos Galli Taylor, Jaco Beach, Costa Rica Carlos is a Costarrican artist living in Jaco, a
small sleepy town nestled in the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Nearby are
the world famous rainforest reserves breeming with the flora and fauna from
which Carlos gets his inspiration. Carlos has been painting since he was four
years old. He was noted for his talent since his teenage years. At seventeen, he
was awarded first place in the "Best Youth Artist" competition, a contest held
nationally at the high school level. In 1993, Carlos was awarded honorable
mention in the international contest held by Airbrush Action Magazine. It was
his first entry! Carlos has been recognized by the local media ("La Nacion" and
"Costa Rica Today") for his artwork and the ability to beautify the surrounding
architecture with his eco-murals. In 1995 his murals were featured in San Jose,
the capital. Carlos' eco-murals can be seen throughout the country in Jaco,
Manual Antonio, Dominical, Guanacaste, San Jose, Puntarenas, and Florida in the
United States. Carlos' canvases are found in private collections throughout the
world. Carlos has recently relocated his studio to the fringes of the Cabo
Blanco Reserve in Costa Rica, where has has been working for the past year. He
literally works at the edge of the rainforest as Congo monkeys eat fruit from
the trees above him and parrots and macaws fly nearby. Here is where Carlos gets
first hand inspiration for his work. Prints are on hand-made Costariccan heavy
stock exotic paper that contains banana fiber and cabuya fiber among other
native materials from Costa Rica, developed exclusively for the artist. Carlos
uses a unique technique to print, developed through years of trial and error
which results in high-resolution images on the hard-to-work with media. Prints
are also retouched individually. Dimensions are 17 x 20 inches for the paper and
10 x 14 inches for the image. |
